Riley Sloan
Missions Resident
Riley grew up in Waco, Texas, coming to know the Lord in childhood and growing up in a family with strong believing parents. Riley was blessed to have many experiences overseas, which led to her feeling a pull towards the nations at a young age. She grew in that calling as she went to Baylor University and met those from different backgrounds and countries. Through these friendships, Riley developed a deep and enduring tenderness for other cultures and nations. After graduating, Riley spent time in Missouri participating in a program for biblical study and leadership. After completing that, she moved to Austin! Since then, Riley has been using her degree in social work to serve the unhoused in Austin. This job allowed Riley to grow in empathy for those in need, and in the confidence to serve them. God reminded her of her identity as both a broken striver and a chosen child of God. Despite the gift of this job, Riley desired to serve God and the nations in ministry, which led her to the Missions Residency at The Well! Riley is passionate about the gospel for every tribe, tongue, and nation. She sees the calling of the Church to live in community and friendship with those who are different from them, including language and country of origin. Riley desires to move overseas long term and is expectant that the Lord will use this position to equip her for a lifetime of giving Him glory. She is honored to serve Him and The Well family in this role, eager to see what He will do in this body and in the world!
