Letter From Tory
Family,
I'm so encouraged by what the Lord has been and is doing within our church right now. We've seen amazing things this past quarter, many of which will be shared in more detail throughout this report. Even just this past quarter, we've seen over a dozen baptisms, witnessed the multiplication of gatherings, filled multiple staff team roles, and had multiple CG Shepherds stepping in to help care for and shepherd our church. I could go on!
At the beginning of the year, we said that we felt like the Lord wanted to restore many things, both personally and corporately. I know that at times this restoration can be challenging. In my personal life, while I can tangibly see some forms of restoration, it is taking longer than I desire! However, the signs of life are there, and I'm excited to share some of where I feel like the Lord is taking us as a family. Before moving ahead too quickly, though, I think it's incredibly important that we also look back at the good that God has done. As a people, we often move forward so fast that we forget to pause, celebrate, remember, and be grateful for how the Lord has been moving. In fact, we forget that some of the service we have done is directly tied to some of the stories in this report! Remembering that gives us vision, encouragement, and helps us realize that our sacrifices of time, talents, and treasures are making a difference right now!
I hope that as you read this report, you find encouragement. May it show you how God is working and even how He is directly using you. Our Messiah is worthy of all, and what a privilege it is that we get to give ourselves to Him. I love you all dearly. I pray that reading through this report will help you worship God for His faithfulness through many of you.

Celebration Sunday
"Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others He has redeemed you from your enemies" (Psalm 107:2), quoted by an individual baptized during Celebration Sunday.
Celebration Sunday at The Well is our way of corporately rejoicing in the ways the Lord has redeemed us. On March 5th, we bore witness to the Lord's redemption through the addition of 58 new members to our church family, the expansion of community groups with new Community Group Shepherds, and the experience of new life in Christ as 12 friends were baptized.
During each baptism, an individual shares their testimony. These stories were both unique and powerful, ranging from one person who accepted Jesus in the solitude of their shower after years of wrestling with God, to another who encountered Him in a Starbucks, and even to someone whose first visit to The Well coincided with this very Celebration Sunday, prompting them to choose baptism.
Celebration Sunday serves as a reminder that the Lord takes delight in redeeming and restoring broken individuals, granting them a fresh start. As one person expressed during the March 5th baptism, "God has tenderly shown me that I don't need to shed my burdens or have it all together before coming to Jesus. It is precisely our burdens that qualify us to approach Him."

Spring Sermon Series
Our recent move to Eastside Early College High School in East Austin has brought about many new rhythms. In light of our expansion to two gatherings (in the morning, Amen!?), we embarked on our "Multiply" series. As we've mentioned previously, our church has experienced a significant "replanting," and through God's grace, His garden for us is flourishing! With this metaphor in mind, we pondered: how else might God desire multiplication within our church?
Drawing wisdom from the early church in Acts 1-2, we were reminded of the following by God:
- Let us multiply our sharing of the gospel. To fulfill our vision of establishing 100 churches nationwide and globally, it is crucial that we become a people saturated with the gospel and strive to extend the reach of its message.
- Let us multiply the number of individuals in our church. With two gatherings and an increasing number of attendees, we require the multiplication of volunteers who dedicate their time, talents, and resources to serving our Sunday Gatherings. We also need growth within our staff team to support our church's initiatives and ministries.
- Let us multiply diversity and engagement in our CGs. We should continue our pursuit of diversity, as it reveals more about God's design and foreshadows our ultimate home.
The move to Eastside has also led to a multiplication of new relationships. We have delved into our series titled "Loved To Death," exploring the profound poetry of the Song of Songs. This biblical treasure uncovers the beauty and challenges of romantic and interpersonal relationships, providing practical wisdom on dating, singleness, marriage, and community. Together, we discover a compelling example of God's love and pursuit, learning to reflect Christ's sacrificial love in all our relationships.
Changes in location, staff, volunteers, and structures have reshaped our community. While much has transformed, familiar threads have connected us to our cherished past. We embrace these changes and eagerly anticipate what God has in store for the next steps of our journey! With open hearts and minds, we push back against darkness, united in Christ's calling, and eagerly await the unwritten chapters.
May His grace abound as we reflect on our shared journey!

Kids Ministry
This has been an eventful spring in Well Kids! Alongside welcoming numerous new volunteers to join us in serving our families, we also organized three incredible events, starting with our inaugural Mom's Panel! Moms from all stages of life gathered together to listen to stories from a panel of experienced mothers, sharing tales of success, struggles, and various strategies to keep their focus on the Lord amidst the challenges of motherhood. Following the Mom's Panel, we held our Mother/Son Movie Night and our Daughter Dance. These events were designed to foster community and allowed members of The Well to invite their neighbors and loved ones to catch a glimpse of what Well Kids is all about, as well as our church family as a whole. All three events had an exceptional turnout, and we eagerly anticipate organizing them again next year!
As spring winds down, we are fully engaged in preparations for our second annual VBS! We kindly request your prayers, partnering with us, that this event will be a tremendous success and that many of our children will have a profound experience of encountering Christ in action!

Students Ministry
God is doing amazing things in the lives of our students here at The Well. We had the opportunity to spend three days in Giddings, Texas, at our first-ever Spring retreat during the last weekend of April. Five students had the chance to go canoeing, participate in axe throwing, experience the zipline on the ropes course, and engage in various other outdoor activities. Throughout the weekend, we worshipped, prayed, and delved into God's Word as a group. The Lord blessed us with lifelong memories, which we hope will evolve into cherished traditions of future retreats.
Our Student Ministry is wrapping up a successful semester of Midweek gatherings. Every Wednesday evening, we gathered in the church offices to spend quality time with our adult leaders. During these gatherings, we prayed and sought to embody the four qualities we see from the early church in Acts 2:42—breaking bread, fellowship, teaching from the Word, and prayer. Our focus has been on the power of our words and the importance of finding our identity in Jesus.
We are excited to build upon the momentum from Spring and have more events and gatherings throughout the Summer and Fall, beginning with our participation in VBS (Vacation Bible School) as a service opportunity!

College Ministry
This past year, we have witnessed God igniting a renewed passion for evangelism and discipleship in our ministry! During this time, we have seen numerous individuals embrace Christ, while others have devoted themselves to following Jesus in a profound way. We are grateful for our collaboration with the missions team and their invaluable support in equipping us to serve the people of Thessaloniki this past March! Witnessing God's work in the nations has inspired a heightened level of trust in Him and fervent prayer, not only among our students but also among our staff. Additionally, this year, we introduced a new initiative called Beyond College, aimed at helping graduating students envision a life dedicated to Christ as they transition into postgraduate life.
We have some exciting events on the horizon, including worship nights in partnership with the missions team and the Disciple Making Intensive, where our students will be equipped to share the gospel and serve the city. Furthermore, we are developing a fresh structure for retreats and discipleship groups, offering students the opportunity to delve deeper into the meaning of living a life rooted in Christ and aligned with His kingdom mission.

That's Well Said!
This spring, we launched our own podcast, "Well Said." Well Said is hosted by Mary and Tory, and every other week they aim to equip our congregants with the knowledge and confidence to apply a biblical perspective to today's topics while building and strengthening connections within our church.
We have released three episodes to date. In episode 1, Tory and Mary shared their personal journey of fighting for community within their own friendship, despite deep wounds, for the sake of the gospel.
In episode 2, we delved into the topic of racial reconciliation. We explored how God intentionally created a multi-ethnic, multicultural, and multi-layered universe to display His beautiful complexity and diversity through various individuals and cultures. Therefore, it is evident that He deeply cares about it, and so should we!
Our most recent episode focused on our E.F.A.P. Scripture Reading Framework. This framework assists us in reading and studying Scripture in light of the Gospel, through the lens of Christ, with the purpose of worship.
Make sure to turn on your notifications on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud to be alerted when new episodes are released! If you want to learn more, submit an icebreaker, or share your ideas for future discussions, visit thewellaustin.com/podcast.

Missions Trip to Greece
We witnessed God's work in various ways, but one significant aspect was God stirring up a heart for prayer in the city. During our visit, we had the opportunity to meet with an individual who leads a prayer ministry there. He shared his strong conviction about partnering with God in prayer as a means of reaching the lost. It was truly a gift to pray with numerous locals, especially college students at the university.
Many of these students have lost hope in envisioning a bright future in Thessaloniki, partly due to a tragic rail accident that occurred two weeks prior to our visit, claiming the lives of several students. We were grateful for the chance to pray with them and also share the hope of Christ, thanks to the support of the local team we collaborated with. Remarkably, one of the students has even followed up with the local team to learn more about the gospel!
As we look ahead, we are excited about the possibility of returning in the summer of 2024. Additionally, we are fervently praying for the upcoming trips to Japan and North Africa scheduled for this summer!

Goer Missional Community (GMC) Groups
We have just completed the second year of Goer Missional Communities (GMCs). In total, 11 participants successfully graduated from the program. One of the participants was sent to the Middle East in March to join a church planting team. Additionally, three couples and a single individual are currently taking the necessary steps with a sending organization to prepare for their respective fields. Each participant left the program with a deeper love for Jesus and a strong desire to spread His name among all nations.
The next GMC cohort is scheduled to begin in August and will include four participants. While this group is specifically designed for those who aspire to long-term overseas missions, our hope is that those who remain can apply what they have learned to train and equip the local church. The key lesson emphasized by GMC participants this year is the vital role of prayer in the mission of God. To effectively engage with people and boldly proclaim the gospel of the kingdom, we must maintain a close connection to the Spirit of God.

With the end of May approaching, we will soon complete the third quarter of our 22-23 fiscal year. As we reflect on the past nine months, we are deeply grateful for God's astounding favor, protection, and provision for the Well.
While we await the completion of May month-end financials, I can share our year-to-date (YTD) financial position as of April. Through your generous contributions, we have received $1,552,000 for the General Fund. This represents a 9% increase in giving compared to the same period last year. Although general fund giving is showing positive growth compared to last year, we are currently 5% behind the projected giving. To address this shortfall, we have been diligently managing budgeted expenses to ensure our financial obligations are met.
Our unrestricted reserves currently stand at $1.165 million (excluding the operational reserve of $325,000). The utilization of these reserves has been approved to cover the expenses associated with our transition to Eastside Early College High School. This includes provisions for Children's ministry, the establishment of a worship environment in the gymnasium, and additional support for Eastside administration to meet special needs beyond their allocated budget.
We humbly request your ongoing prayers and generosity as we strive to finish the fiscal year strong. Together, let us steadfastly pursue our vision and push back against darkness in Austin and throughout the world.
