Wesley Chang
Elder

Wesley was born in Katy, Texas, to immigrant parents from Taiwan. Growing up between two cultures, he often felt out of place and struggled with shame and insecurity. Though church was part of his upbringing, he initially saw it as tradition rather than relationship. At eight years old, however, Wesley embraced the gospel through a simple children’s handout on salvation, and by age twelve, he was baptized.
Even after conversion, Wesley wrestled with deep insecurity, striving for approval and falling into cycles of sin. But during his freshman year at the University of Texas, God’s Word came alive to him in a new way. Through a Young Life small group, he experienced the gospel as more than tradition: Jesus became a close friend who transformed his identity.
Wesley now lives in the confidence that he is a child of God, freed from shame and secure in Christ’s grace. He echoes Paul’s words in 1 Timothy 1:12-14, thanking Jesus for His abundant mercy and appointing him to service.
At The Well, Wesley has served as a CG Shepherd, on the Teardown and Welcome Teams, and as a Purity Group facilitator.
