John is originally from Texas, but spent half of his adult life near Detroit, Michigan as a Student Pastor for a church and then later as a Church Planter. It was in Michigan where John met and married his incredible wife, Sara, in the same year. That was around the same year that most people at the Well were born, so he won’t mention how long ago that was. Together, they have 3 grown children: Trevor, Reily, and Gracie.

God brought John’s family to Austin to serve in two great churches: Hill Country Bible Church and then Gateway. Right before coming to the Well, he served for a mission organization that served Haitians throughout the Caribbean. As John is excited to serve with us here at the Well part-time as the Serve Austin Director, he also serves with a compassion/church planting ministry in India as their partnership director. He has served in missions in multiple countries and he longs for that elusive executive platinum flight status.

John is fueled by being part of sending the church to serve both locally and globally and he is energized by the Well utilizing church planting to do just that. He loves all Michigan professional sports teams, Dr. Pepper, boating, and hiking mountain backcountry with his wife. John graduated with his Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Evangelical Seminary.
