ABOUT THE SERIES

Throughout this series we’ll hit on all of the one-chapter books of the Bible, taking a sort of “topical series” approach, touching on tons of different ideas, while still exegetically working through the Scriptures. The important thing about these topics is that they allow us to really hit on some important themes with where we will likely be as a church.

Obadiah: God's Judgement and Justice

In this sermon we discuss the book of Obadiah, a prophetic book focusing on God's judgment and wrath. However, what if the book is only grim because of our understanding of judgment and justice? What if God's wrath should be a sacred, desired thing? What if it increases our intimacy and longing for Him and gives us greater depth and ability to receive His love and kindness? If we see this book in the right lens, it will increase our love and respect for God, while also making us long for BOTH his justice and mercy.

2 John: Truth, Obedience, Love

In this sermon we explore the letter of 2 John and discuss what walking in truth and love looks like as God's people. Walking in the truth of the gospel and in obedience to Christ can be hard for our generation. So much do we want the “feel” of the gospel, that we often miss the commands of the gospel, and don’t like words like “obey!” But our obedience is key to our love for Christ. We'll address what the first step to walking in truth and love is. We'll talk about how all three themes work together. And we'll discuss the fruit that is produced when we walk in truth and love.

3 John: Community Done Well

In this sermon we explore the shortest book in the Bible, 3rd John. We'll learn what it means to fight for community and unity in Christ.

Jude: Fight to Hold on Pt.1

In this sermon, we look at the first part of Jude. Jude is convinced that there are many teachers and many things that can shipwreck our faith. In fact, the greatest threat isn't "out there" but "in here." It is hard to maintain our faith and persevere until the end. But Jude gives an ironic way for how we can fight for our faith and hold firm to the gospel.

Jude: Fight to Hold on - Pt.2

In this sermon, we look at the second part of Jude. How does a disciple of Jesus contend for the faith in a world dizzy and disillusioned by doubt and discouragement? Join us as we reflect on Jude’s exhortation and learn how to hold on to the faith and fight for those who are hurting.
