ABOUT THE SERIES

For the Christian, particularly the covenant member, this series will feel very welcome, because it’ll hit on several topics that they’ve likely thought about, or had questions about, particularly in this season of our church, but often don’t get time to explicitly discuss. For the non-Christian, there are themes that will be relevant to their lives, even if it seems a little “out there” at first. There are things present either happening around them (e.g., spiritual warfare) or that they lack (i.e., sabbath) that will hopefully draw them into Christ.

Restoration

In this sermon, we study an unfamiliar passage in Joel 2, in which God promises to restore everything that the locust has stolen. For many individuals, and for our church collectively, it has been a difficult season. However, throughout the Scriptures, God promises to bring good, abundance, blessing at times. How can we endure when those seasons aren't upon us, and how can we anticipate, and even receive these abundant harvests from God?

Spiritual Warfare

In this sermon, we study spiritual warfare. This is a topic infrequently discussed as we think about the mountains and valleys in our life. The overarching Biblical understanding about it is; spiritual warfare is real, and you can, with the strength of Christ, fight against it. How do we fight this spiritual enemy as we journey through the mountains and valleys?

Sabbath

In this sermon, we look at the concept of sabbath. If we're to endure the valleys, or not be overly committed to the mountains, we have to see the significance and importance of a regular sabbath. God has orchestrated into the very fabric of creation this idea that we work really hard and then rest well. And that as we do this, we find healing, which can lead to even more beautiful restoration.

Lament

Lamenting is not something many Western Christians know how to practice, and yet this discipline is extremely present in the Scriptures. How do you practice Biblical lament, is there value in it, and why is it important to do well? Might we be missing even greater joy by not lamenting? In this sermon, we explore these questions.

Celebration

For as much as we love happiness and joy as a people you'd think we'd be better at it! All throughout the Scripture however we see the commands to celebrate, indicating we're pretty bad at it. How can we be a more celebratory people? What would this create within us as we scale the mountains our journey the valleys of life?

Calling

In this sermon we explore the topic of Calling. What am I called to? How do I find calling? Are there general and specific callings? Often we're not walking in restoration because we're not actually walking in the paths that God has called us towards. The more we do what we've been created by God to do, the more we will find joy and great grace from God, and the more we'll be restoring the world around us.
