Living in Community
ABOUT THE SERIES
One of the realities of our generation is that we are lonely! Though more connected than ever, we tend to simultaneously feel more isolated than ever before. One of the beautiful gifts of the local church is that God has provided a way in which we get to image Him in His triune being, creating relationship with one another in which we nurture, encourage, challenge, and build one another up into the image of Christ, as we are built up by this same family.

The Significance of Community
In this sermon, we're journeying through the life of David, Solomon, and Rehoboam, looking at positive and negative examples of community, and trying to apply this in our life. Today we look at Psalm 133, as David talks about the importance of community. It is nearly impossible to overstate the importance of community in our spiritual life. How can we, with an understanding of its importance, begin to seek it out and try to apply it to our lives?

Isolation is Hell
In this sermon, we focus on Psalm 142, picking up the theme that isolation is hell. David is suffering, terribly, in many senses because he is isolated from community. There are many ways for us to isolate ourselves. Some of them are fairly obvious (not joining community), but some of them are more subtle, and in some ways even more dangerous. Isolating is the opposite of the kingdom, meaning we experience the full weight of the fall when we are "alone."

Community Accepts Counsel
In this sermon we study how community accepts (or rejects!) counsel and what this does for our physical, emotional, and spiritual lives. More than just enjoying one another's company, true community is meant to point one another towards Jesus and help us become more like Jesus. How do we find this? How do we practice and become this?
