Our Mission and Vision

Colossians

ABOUT THE SERIES

Colossians is a book that is rooted in our most important distinctive, Christ-centeredness! This helps us continue to root into and establish who we are as a church. Additionally, with multiple plants launching right before/during this series, it is helpful to think about what forms and builds a local church, something the back-half of Colossians focuses on. We’ll need to rebuild as a church, focus on the right things, and Colossians has strong direction for this.

Christ Fuels Gratitude and Prayer • Tory Mayo

Join us as we jump into the first group of topics Paul hits on in Colossians: the importance of gratitude and prayer. The Colossians had several things going on in their church that Paul could have easily corrected and addressed. Instead, Paul blesses them, encourages them, calls out the good that God is doing in them, and prays for them. All of this gratitude and prayer is centered around Christ. There are ample lessons for us in this model, mainly, are we drawn towards gratitude and prayer, first, before correction and change? What if focusing on Christ fuels gratitude and prayer, and what if this completely changes how we operate in this Christian life? Beginning here usually bring a much more beautiful and joy-filled end. How do we add these elements into our discipleship journey as well, and how do we keep it Christ-centered, as Paul did?

Christ's Preeminance • Tory Mayo

We continue in our series on Colossians, today looking at one of the denser sections of the entire New Testament, especially with regard to Christology. Who truly is the Person of Christ? And is He as lofty in our minds, or, more importantly for many of us, is He as lofty in our hearts and souls as the Scriptures make Him out to be? If not (which, He isn't!), how do we exalt Him more? Rather than preaching, we're doing some practice of exalting Christ.

Christ Proclaimed Through His Servants • Tory Mayo

Join us as we continue in Colossians, this week focusing on how Christ is most predominantly displayed: through HIs servants. Rather than Jesus just aetherally being known, He has chosen to make Himself known through people. However, the methods that He chooses is something American Christians tend to miss. What can we learn about our suffering, our service, and our building up of Jesus' church? If we get and apply this message of Paul, it might change our entire outlook on life!

Christ Secures The Church • Yusuf Agoro

Join us as we talk about how Christ secures the church. For those who have put their faith in Christ, they live in the tension of two realities: the already-but-not-yet Kingdom of God. In that tension, it can be tempting to believe that because we still sin and make mistakes, something more is needed beyond Christ’s sacrifice. In this sermon, we’ll discuss what Paul teaches in about our complete security in Christ, the fullness of His finished work, and how believers can live with confidence, freedom, and unwavering faith in Him.

Christ is Enough: Rejecting False Spirituality • Tory Mayo

Join us as we continue our series in Colossians, this week looking at the dangers of false spirituality (and how many of us are more susceptible than we'd like to think!). Paul, after encouraging us over and over again to choose Jesus, shows us part of the shadow side of not choosing Jesus. These false versions of spirituality look great... but they're nothing but shadows with no substance. How do we know if we're pursuing these counterfeits, and how can we have hearts than long for (and receive) the real thing? Join us as we study this text (and commission our 5th church!) together.

Leaving the Old Self Behind • Yusuf Agoro

We continue our Exalted series through the book of Colossians, diving into . In this message, Pastor Yusuf unpacks what it truly means to grow and mature as God's children — without falling into the trap of behavior modification. Through the lens of Genesis and the story of redemption, we explore three questions Paul answers in our passage: what do we need to understand about our new identity in Christ, what's required to walk in that identity, and what's the fruit of walking in it? You'll discover that spiritual maturity isn't about habit stacking your holiness or performing for God's approval — it's about understanding that in Christ, you are not just saved from hell, but raised for heaven. And from that place of resurrection, we are invited into a divine partnership to co-cultivate our souls until the fruit of that formation is seen in the flourishing of our community.

Christ Worn in Community • Mitchell Johnson

Paul reminds the Colossians—and us—that the gospel doesn’t just change our destination; it changes our identity, our relationships, and our entire way of life. Because of Jesus, we are clothed with a new identity as God’s chosen, holy, and beloved people. We no longer have to wear shame, performance, or self-reliance. Instead, we are called to intentionally put on the character of Christ through compassion, humility, patience, and love. But following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. Christ connects us to a new community where grace, forgiveness, and sacrificial love hold us together. In a world ruled by division, fear, and offense, God calls His people to let the peace of Christ rule their hearts and shape their relationships. And as the word of Christ dwells richly among us, Jesus becomes more than part of our lives—He becomes the center of them. The big question is: what is ruling your heart? Because whatever sits at the center of your life will ultimately shape who you become.
