ABOUT THE SERIES
In this sermon series, we thought it would be helpful for our church to re-think what it means to truly love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. A few years ago we changed our discipleship distinctive to reflect the Great Commandment. Within this we highlighted the ability to follow each of Jesus’ commands with all of ourselves; really engaging all of our being. As we enter into this season that is supposed to be one of rest and reflection, but in our culture is often marked by busyness and hurry, this is a way to slow us down some, to meditate on what it means to follow Immanuel.

Devoting Ourselves to God
In this sermon, we explore what it looks like to devote our heart, souls, mind, and strength to God. What if God not only can receive our devotion, or our offerings to Him, but delights in them. What if there's blessing for us within this? How can we learn to give our entire self to God?

Giving Sunday
In this sermon, we highlight the importance of devoting our giving to God. Before we think about giving, we have to make sure we're doing it with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, as Jesus would have us. What prevents us from giving, and how can we trust God enough to overcome this? If we see material provision in the same way He does, it'll not only change how we interact with money, it'll free us from it's controlling grip, and replace it with joy in the process.

Heart: Emotional Love for God
In this sermon, we meditate on the reality that we are able to devote our heart and our emotions to God. What does it look like to devote our emotions to Him? How can, as we respond to the commands of God, we do this not just out of obedience, but from a posture of joy, gratitude, with gospel emotions?

Soul: Spiritual Love for God
In this sermon we explore what it means to love the Lord our God with all our soul. Among the four themes in our series—Heart, Mind, Soul, and Strength—Soul often feels the least intuitive when it comes to our devotion to God. By the end of this sermon, we hope you’ll have a clearer understanding of what this means. Together, we’ll tackle three key questions: What is the soul? What does loving God with our soul practically look like? And how do we do it? Our aim is to leave with a much firmer grasp on how to love the Lord with all our soul.

Mind: Intellectual Love for God
In this sermon, we explore what it means to love the Lord our God with our minds. God doesn’t just want our emotions, or our spirituality, our beings, he also wants our minds. Too much “brain,” and you become a skeptic. Not enough of it, and you become trapped in your feelings, unable to look past the immediate circumstance in front of you. Loving God with our mind is important for our spiritual growth.

Strength: Practical Love for God
In this sermon we study what it means to have our "hands," our strength devoted to God. God doesn't just want our mind (thinking), heart (emotions), or our soul (whole self) devoted to God, he wants our actions too. How do we make Christianity practical? What can we glean about how God used the obedience to others to further bring forth the Messiah?
