ABOUT THE SERIES

In this sermon series, we focus on stories that are told in each of the synoptic accounts (at times, in all four gospels!).  The question we’re asking is “Why are these stories so important, that each author tells it?” What is it that the Spirit, through these authors, is trying to tell us? Whether writing primarily to Greeks/Gentiles (Luke), Romans (Mark), or Jews (Matthew), each author felt the need to include these stories. They cross cultures and span understandings of Jewish history. They’re important for everyone; so what is it saying to us today?

Sheep Without a Shepherd

Join us as we kick off a new series entitled Completely Jesus. In this series, we'll look at stories told in more than one synoptic Gospel, asking ourselves what's so special about these stories that more than one author includes them. This week, we discuss one of Jesus's most popular miracles in the Gospels: the feeding of the 5000. We can learn a lot from this passage as it's the only miracle besides the resurrection to be included in all four Gospels. We will discuss how this story summarizes multiple Bible themes and reveals God's nature.

Reject the Serpent

Join us this Sunday as we continue our "Uniquely Jesus" sermon series. This Sunday we focus on Satan's attempt to tempt Jesus in the wilderness. Each gospel author highlights the importance of this encounter. As Jesus proves to us He's the better Adam, and the better Israel who overcomes the tempting of Satan, there are tons of practical applications for us as well. What do we do about spiritual warfare? How can we overcome Satan's attacks in our life? What exactly is spiritual warfare and how does it often play itself out with us? Join us as we study this important passage together!

Preparing the Messiah

Join us this Sunday as we continue looking at stories found in at least 3 of the 4 gospels. Today, Palm Sunday, we look at the story of the woman who pours anointing oil over Jesus' head, preparing Him for His burial. Why was this act so significant? And if Jesus proclaims that it is as significant as it is, then why don't we talk about it as much? What does it look like for us to "prepare" Jesus in similar ways today? Join us as we celebrate Jesus as King together.

Response to the Empty Tomb

Join us this Easter Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ! Today we study a passage told in each of the gospel accounts, with similar characters in each of the accounts. What do these individuals communicate about us, and our response to Christ's resurrection? Do we receive Him like we should? Do we have the right heart, but miss some of the application? Are we slow to see Him through our hang-ups? Each of us has a response we must give! Join us as we study this passage and find ourselves in the ancient Text together.

Come Change the World

Join us as we continue our Completely Jesus series. This week focuses on the story of Jesus calling Matthew to be His Apostle. Matthew's story shows us that no one is too far gone to be used deeply by God. Despite being an enemy of the Jewish people, Matthew eventually was so captivated by the love of Chirst that he ended up reaching the very people who once despised him, the Jews! All of this despite the "low profile" Matthew had throughout Jesus' stories. God wants to use us in similar ways to make a massive difference in this world for His Kingdom if we'd leave our "tax booths" and follow Him. How might God be calling us to change the world?

Why Worry?

Join us as we discuss when Jesus calms the storm. We often hear that Jesus can calm the storms in our lives, but what happens if he doesn't act how we want him to act? What are the anchors of truths about who God is that we can hold on to despite the storm we may be in?

Community That Carries Our Faith

Most Christians would acknowledge that community is important. But why is it important? How does God desire to use local church communities to not just strengthen our faith but bring others to faith? It all has to do with being a kingdom-minded community. So join us as we talk about the key elements to being a kingdom-minded community that not only brings people to faith but also carries and encourages one another's faith.

Hiding Jesus

Join us this Sunday as we continue our Completely Jesus series, this week focusing on Jesus' call for us to allow the light of Christ to shine. This call is a command to share the gospel. The problem is that for many of us, sermons on evangelism feel more guilt-oriented than invitational, like Jesus' message here. Jesus is commanding you to share the gospel not out of obligation, but out of an invitation to receive more of Him, to be a part of His Kingdom, to get to be on mission with Him. If we see Jeuss rightly, evangelism won't feel burdensome. Not sharing will be as non-sensical as hiding an oil lamp under a bed! How can we get to this place? Join us to learn what Jesus says about evangelism.

Demonic Deliverence

Join us as we continue in our Completely Jesus series, this week look at Jesus healing the demoniac from a "Legion" of demons. Spiritual warfare is something we have a hard time with, especially when it looks like this. But what if the world is more spiritual than we realize? What if some of the problems we're facing are spiritual in nature? How do we know to discern the difference? If it is spiritual, what do we do about it? How can we receive deliverance? Join us as we tackle this topic together.

Soil of the Soul

Join us this Sunday as we continue our Completely Jesus series this week focusing on Jesus' parable of the sower. 3 of the 4 soils end up not producing fruit; indication it is hard to endure with Christ until the end! Many fall away. What is the trick? How do we get the "soil of our soul" to be good soil? Join us as we study this parable together.

Jairus' Daughter & Bleeding Woman

This sermon focuses on the intertwined stories of Jairus' daughter and the woman with a chronic bleeding issue, highlighting how Jesus encounters people with deep needs and how an encounter with him leads to transformation. God often draws near in moments of chaos and suffering, and there is a call to trust and worship Jesus, even before witnessing miracles.

Bring the Kingdom

Join us this Sunday in our second to last week of our Completely Jesus series. This week we look at Jesus' disciples being initially commissioned by Christ. What does it look like to respond to our calling as Christians? Do we even know what this is, and how to find it? When we do this, what is the purpose and goal? If we walk in our calling we find deep intimacy, deep dependence, and deep impact for God that literally changes eternity. It will be our greatest joy on earth! Join us as we study this text, and even prepare our hearts for our next church plant, next week, together!
