SUMMARY:

The Missions Director will support the mission and vision of The Well by ensuring an effective strategy is in place for equipping and sending out missionaries and international church planters, providing opportunities to engage the nations through short-term mission trips, establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations, and ensuring our sent missionaries feel connected and seen while in the field. The Missions Director will oversee the missions team, and help lead out in stewarding the vision of 100 international church plants.. This candidate is a shepherd, reproducer of disciples, strategic networker, and vision caster.

OUTCOMES AND RESULTS – SUCCESS IN THIS POSITION WILL RESULT IN:

  1. A clear and executable strategy is in place for fulfilling The Well’s vision to plant 100 international churches within the first 50 years of its existence.
  2. A heart for the lost and the nations increases among The Well family, resulting in many going, sending, praying, and mobilizing.
  3. Missionaries sent from The Well are healthy and remaining in the field.
  4. Partnerships with like-minded sending organizations are stable, innovative, and further advancing The Well’s mission and vision.
  5. Visioning and establishing creative ways for the entirety of the local body to be involved with missions. 
  6. Continue to build a healthy and sustainable missions team. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

  1. Develop an executable strategic plan and budget annually for the Missions team.
  2. Oversee and provide direction for the Missions team. Oversee other teams and/or ministries as assigned. 
  3. Oversee International Church Planting Residents, ensuring they are equipped, connected, and cared for.
  4. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships to aid in the sending process at The Well.
  5. Help drive international church planting efforts at The Well through overseeing the mission pipeline.
  6. Meet with people (both internal and external) interested in the nations and help them take their next steps.
  7. Travel overseas often (approx. twice a year) to visit our sent missionaries and church planters in the field.
  8. Maintain the capacity to travel and communicate outside traditional office hours with partners in various time zones and consistently open your life to partners, leaders, and missionaries in training.
  9. Vision cast to our congregation about sending, and consistently advocates and communicates with our missionaries to ensure they are well cared for, empowered, and connected to The Well. 
  10. Facilitate opportunities for sent missionaries to feel cared for by our church family through their connection with The Well and The Well’s Community Groups.
  11. Ensure stories of life change and kingdom impact are being shared and celebrated across multiple channels.
  12. Disciple and develop key leaders within the church, thereby reproducing leaders who, in turn, will make disciples.
  13. Attend and participate in all exegesis, staff meetings, events, and trainings.
  14. Lead out in emotional and spiritual health in all areas of ministry.
  15. Consistent time in the office around the team to build relationships across ministries. 
  16. Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Ministry Manager.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Above all, has a personal affection for Jesus that is growing, sincere, and contagious.
  2. Believes deeply in the mission of God, the mission of the Church, and the mission and vision of The Well.
  3. A sincere love for ALL people far from God, and a deep desire/conviction to see them enter into the Family of God.
  4. A passion for the unreached. 
  5. Experience mobilizing the church in its international church planting efforts or in a role similar in nature.
  6. Experience developing and successfully implementing missions-related strategic plans with an ability to steward a complex budget and make financial stewardship decisions.
  7. Managerial experience preferable.
  8. Has a passion and commitment towards the sending philosophy of The Well and seeks to send with purpose and passion.
  9. Ability to “shepherd” in a way that is consistent with the call of a Pastor in Scripture.
  10. A clear call for ministry, preferably a call for Missions.
  11. Some field experience is helpful, but not necessary.
  12. Ability to travel overseas at least twice a year.

 

CULTURE:

  1. Actively participating in the life of The Well by attending weekly gatherings, upholding the core beliefs and values, joining a community group, and living out the mission of the Well.
  2. Theologically aligns with the core beliefs of The Well and becomes a church member within 3 months of hire (if not already a member).
  3. Adhering to the Team Covenant and sees themselves as an owner of the mission, vision, values The Well upholds.
  4. Works well with a team and desires to be a family first, before an organization.
