The Operations Director will help the Well Austin accomplish its mission and vision by pursuing good stewardship of church finances, time, staff, and other resources. The Operations Director will continue to enhance the culture of the staff team through hiring, performance reviews, training, coaching, staff care (as needed) which will directly impact cach of The Well’s ministries. This role will also support The Branch Network and related church planting efforts.
OUTCOMES AND RESULTS – SUCCESS IN THIS POSITION WILL RESULT IN:
- Staff and elders receive accurate and timely financial data to allow for confident financial decisions in leading the church.
- Staff fully understands the financial systems and procedures that apply to their jobs and the impact their financial decisions have on the church as a whole.
- Easy to follow best practices are developed and implemented for financial procedures that support/reinforce Godly stewardship and meet the requirements of third party oversight.
- The annual budget process is led and proactively provided with guidance and advice to reach target goals.
- HR policies and processes that are supportive of our church culture and consistent with peer churches are developed refined, and implemented in coordination with the Executive Pastor.
- Employee Relations (ER) issues are addressed within the structure of the Team Covenant, Employee Handbook, and supportive of the mission/vision of the Well.
- Provides support for the Executive Pastor regarding financial issues, such as employee compensation… etc.
- Oversees the development and training of ministry residents
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
- Perform budget analysis, provide variance reporting to church staff, and submit budget recommendations to the Executive Pastor and Elder Board.
- Provide final review and approval for employee credit card expenditures and ministry reimbursement requests
- Perform all associated tasks related to the financial giving platform (i.c., reporting, fund creation, contribution posting, etc.).
- Oversee the contracting of church facilities and lead facility utilization and expansion efforts.
- Manage insurance coverage to mitigate potential risk for the church, staff, and officers of the company, as well as health insurance care.
- Partner with the accountant & designated Well staff to onboard new employees (19, W9, payroll, credit card, etc.).
- Lead recruitment process for all open positions working with the ministry manager to identify, vet, and recommend hiring of viable candidates.
- Develop and monitor the implementation of HR policies and oversee employee handbook revisions
- Create and help implement employee performance reviews.
- Create and develop resources and training to help all staff grow in their professional roles.
- Create an environment that upholds the Team Covenant and encourages camaraderie among teammates.
- Manage the Operations Coordinator role and help this individual thrive in his/her role.
- Help with recruiting, events, planning, and organization for The Branch network and related church planting events
- Lead out in emotional and spiritual health in all areas of ministry
- Disciple others in the church as needed.
- Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Ministry Manager.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Believes deeply in the mission of God, the mission of the Church, and the mission and vision of The Well
- Commitment to the Staff Team Covenant.
- High character and ability to handle confidential information with wisdom.
- 3+ years of finance, HR, or organizational administration experience required.
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Suite, and cloud platforms.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and communicate in a professional manner.
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate with elders, staff, and various lay leaders at The Well.
- Proactive about being informed about what is coming & taking steps to solve potential problems before they arise.
