International Missionary Training Program (IMTP)

This is a 9-month training program that prepares prospective international missionaries to join a church planting team focused on reaching unreached people groups—communities where most have never heard the name of Jesus, and where there aren’t enough local believers to share the gospel with them.

What It'll Look Like

                                        Life in Community
                                    
                                        Participants live together in the same location—this year, it’s The Bridge in Far West. You’ll get a glimpse of what long-term team life might actually look like. You’ll pray together, work through conflict, share meals, and stay committed even when it’s uncomfortable. IMTP doesn’t just teach character—it reveals it and helps you build it alongside others.

                                        Weekly Rhythms
                                    
                                        Each week has a clear rhythm. You’ll gather Thursday nights from 6:30 to 9:30pm for teaching and discussions. Multiple mornings a week, you’re up before sunrise to pray together. And every week, you commit two hours to evangelism—real conversations with people who don’t follow Jesus. It might be awkward at first, but this is how you build the habits that matter.

                                        Hands-On Mission Practice
                                    
                                        You don’t learn gospel boldness by talking about it—you learn it by doing it. IMTP puts you in real situations where you have to step out and speak up. That could mean knocking on doors, reading Scripture with a non-believer, or following up with someone curious. You won’t always know what to say, and that’s the point. You’ll learn to rely on the Spirit and just keep showing up.

                                        Seven Areas of Training
                                    
                                        Over the course of 30 weeks, you’ll be trained in seven areas that prepare you to live and lead overseas: building a healthy team, resolving conflict, growing in character, making disciples, planning a ministry, choosing a sending agency, and raising support. This is the stuff most people wish they had before landing in a new culture. You get to work on it now.

                                        Discernment & Fit
                                    
                                        Not everyone who applies joins IMTP. And that’s intentional. Some people are better served by starting with Mission of God, DMC, Recovery, or simply getting more connected at The Well. The goal isn’t to say yes to everyone—it’s to say yes to what’s wise. This next step should make sense for your season, your maturity, and your calling.

                                        Cost to Join
                                    
                                        There’s a cost to be part of IMTP. That said, we don’t want money to be the reason someone doesn’t move forward. Prices shift a bit each year, so we don’t list them publicly. We’ll share more as we get closer to the spring interview process.

                                        Annual Timeline
                                    
                                        IMTP runs from mid-August through the end of April, with a few built-in breaks around major holidays. It’s 30 weeks of consistency, challenge, and reflection. There’s no rush—we want you to actually absorb what you’re learning and practice it at a sustainable pace.
