Mark
Our Servant King
ABOUT THE SERIES
In this sermon series through the Gospel of Mark, we encounter Jesus not just as a teacher or miracle worker, but as the ultimate servant leader. Mark’s fast-paced, detail-sparing narrative reveals a Savior who moves with purpose—healing, serving, and honoring God through every action. From multiplying a few fish into an abundant feast to turning a single step of faith into the miraculous, Jesus shows us what happens when we offer Him even a little—He can do immeasurably more. As we journey through Mark, we’re invited to not only witness His power and authority but to respond with acceptance, obedience, deeper theological understanding, and a heart to love and serve others. Will we believe Him for big things—and trust Him with the little we have?

Authoritative Servant
This sermon kicks off a series on the Gospel of Mark, introducing Jesus as both the servant and the King with ultimate authority. With Mark’s fast-paced and direct writing style, the message quickly draws attention to Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God. It reminds us that even in seasons when God seems silent, He is actively preparing hearts to encounter Christ. At its core, it is a call to embrace the redemption and grace found in Jesus, inviting Him to both rule and serve in our lives.

Rooted in Christ
“Are you really rooted in Christ?” Statistically, over 60% of our current church will not be actively following Jesus in just two decades, I firmly believe that sermons like this can stop this trend. We can implore them to not just check your fruit (what is your life producing) but also to check their roots (are you firmly “attached to the vine?”)

Power & Mission
his sermon reflects on the unmatched power and deep love of Jesus through two striking moments in the Gospel of Mark: calming the storm and healing a demon-possessed man. It highlights Jesus’ awe-inspiring authority over both nature and spiritual forces—an authority so great it often inspires fear in those who witness it. Yet, alongside His power, Jesus reveals profound compassion, willingly entering chaos to rescue the broken. The message invites listeners to trust in the One who commands the storm and seeks the lost, and to join in His mission by sharing His story with boldness and faith.

Miracles & Multiplication
Jesus is clearly shown here as the one who works miracles. Furthermore, he can take even the little that we give him, and multiply this greatly! He can takes a few fish, and turn it into an “eternal feast,” he can take one step of faith, and turn it into a miracle that defies physics. If we give Jesus just a little, He can multiply a ton, and He has the power and authority to do it. The question is, will we give him a little? Will we believe God for big things, and anticipate God’s empowering presence?

Upside Down Discipleship
This sermon explores the “upside-down” nature of discipleship in the Kingdom of God, as revealed through four stories in Mark 10. It contrasts the world’s pursuit of power and self-sufficiency with Jesus’ call to humility, dependence, and surrender. From the childlike faith needed to enter the Kingdom, to the rich young ruler’s struggle with self-righteousness, the message challenges listeners to let go of worldly desires and follow Christ's example of sacrificial service. Like blind Bartimaeus, we are invited to cling to Jesus in desperate faith—finding in Him the joy, purpose, and eternal life our hearts truly long for.

The Great Commandment
There is a need to accept Jesus (Parable of Tenants), submit to/obey Jesus (Taxes), grow in theological understanding about Jesus (Sadducees and Resurrection), and learn to love and bless others. This same weight is carried in the Great Commandment as well.

Our Savior Tried
This sermon on Mark 14 prepares listeners for the weight of Christ’s passion by highlighting the contrast between Jesus’ perfection and the disciples’ weakness. It explores how their failure to stay awake and eventual abandonment of Jesus reflects the danger of spiritual unpreparedness. The message emphasizes that hope is not found in human strength, but in Christ’s faithfulness—He is the “greater you” who overcomes where we fall short, calling us to watch, pray, and rely fully on God.

Our Savior Killed
This sermon will cover Jesus’ death on the cross and explain why someone had to die in our place, and why we now worship this once dead, but now risen Savior… it is the hope of the world, and will prepare our hearts for Easter!
